Affirmations & Meditations

Affirmations for the Chronically Ill with EDS

Because your worth is not measured in productivity, your strength is not defined by how well you hide your pain, and your spirit is resilient—even when your body feels fragile. Join us for the US Pain’s monthly free support group on the second Tuesday of each month led by Christie Cox to lear about how mindfulness and meditation can help with chronic pain. registration is required: https://uspainfoundation.org/uspfevents/mindful-meditation-group/

Living with EDS can feel like being at war with your own body. The pain, the unpredictability, the constant explaining, the medical gaslighting—it can wear down even the strongest soul. These affirmations are not toxic positivity. They are reminders. Anchors. Truths to hold onto when everything else feels uncertain.

Breathe in. Read slowly. Speak aloud. Or whisper them to yourself when the flare hits.

  • I am more than my diagnosis.

  • My worth is not tied to what I can do today.

On Pain and Flare Days

  • This pain is real, and I deserve compassion.

On Identity and Self-Worth

  • I am not too much. I am enough exactly as I am.

  • I am worthy of love, inclusion, and access.

  • My story matters, even if others can’t see my struggle.

  • I can honor my body without blaming it.

On Advocacy and Boundaries

  • Saying no is an act of self-preservation, not selfishness.

  • I can choose who gets access to my energy.

  • I do not need to prove my pain to be believed.

  • I can advocate for myself with calm clarity.

  • I am allowed to outgrow people who don’t support my healing.

On Hope and Healing

  • I can find peace in the pauses.

  • Small wins matter—today’s victory might be brushing my teeth, and that’s enough.

  • There are still good things waiting for me.

  • I am resilient, even when I feel undone.

A Closing Mantra for Every Day

“Even in stillness, I am whole. Even in pain, I am powerful. Even in silence, I am enough.”
